The language of Intent Commerce.
Every discipline develops its own language. The Intent Commerce Framework is built on a small set of concepts that describe how commerce evolves through intentions, interactions and alignment. This Dictionary defines those concepts. Together, they form the shared vocabulary of Intent Commerce.
Alignment
The degree to which Commerce Domains have developed compatible Representations of a commercial situation.
In the Intent Commerce Framework, Alignment is the degree to which Commerce Domains have developed compatible Representations of a commercial situation.
Alignment does not require participants to agree on everything. It reflects how well their understanding of the situation enables meaningful interactions and informed commercial decisions.
Alignment is continuously shaped through Interactions and evolves as new Commercial Signals enrich the Representations of each Commerce Domain.
Meaningful Commerce does not emerge from perfect information or perfect agreement.
It emerges when Commerce Domains have developed sufficient Alignment to move forward together.
As Alignment increases, uncertainty decreases. Interactions become more relevant, Representations become richer and new opportunities for value creation emerge.
Alignment is therefore not an objective to reach once, but a dynamic state that continuously evolves throughout the commercial relationship.
A buyer initially asks for the cheapest bicycle available.
The seller cannot make a meaningful recommendation because too little is understood about the buyer's real intention.
Through several Interactions, the seller learns that the buyer plans to ride long distances on mixed terrain, while the buyer discovers the trade-offs between comfort, durability and price.
Neither participant has changed their objectives.
What has changed is their shared understanding of the commercial situation.
Their Representations have become more compatible, allowing them to reach a level of Alignment where a meaningful commercial decision becomes possible.
