Commercial Signals
Information exchanged and interpreted by Commerce Domains to understand a commercial situation.
In the Intent Commerce Framework, Commercial Signals are the information continuously emitted, perceived and interpreted by Commerce Domains.
They express, reveal or influence a commercial situation. Signals may be explicit, implicit or inferred, and their meaning always depends on the context in which they are interpreted.
Commercial Signals are the medium through which Commerce Domains interact and progressively build their own Representations.
Without Commercial Signals, Commerce Domains cannot understand one another.
Signals are the foundation of every interaction. They enable participants to progressively reduce uncertainty, enrich their Representations and move toward stronger Alignment.
Rather than viewing commerce as an exchange of products, the Intent Commerce Framework views commerce as a continuous exchange of Commercial Signals.
A buyer searching for "a gravel bike under €2,000" expresses an explicit Commercial Signal.
The seller's available inventory, current promotions and delivery times are also Commercial Signals.
Market trends, seasonal demand and competitor pricing contribute additional signals to the same commercial situation.
Taken individually, these signals provide only partial information. Together, they help each Commerce Domain build a richer understanding of the situation.
